Project Toolbar

The Project Toolbar contains quick actions for creating files, saving, printing / exporting, and other utilities.

This page will cover each of the actions by their associated number or text.

Toolbar Icon References #

Create New Project (A) #

This toolbar action can be used to create new projects.

The same action exists in the “File” menu.

The action in the File menu that is used to create a new project is highlighted with red brackets.

These are only enabled when there is no loaded project.

Open Existing Project (B) #

This toolbar action can be used to open existing projects.

The same action exists in the “File” menu.

The action in the File menu that is used to open an existing project is highlighted with red brackets.

These are only enabled when there is no loaded project.

Actions for Creating Files (C, D, E, F): #

From Figure 0, the following actions can be used to create new files for their respective file types:

C. Create New Layout

D. Create New Set

E. Create New Export Profile

F. Create New Data Source

The newly created file will immediately be opened in the Central Panel.

The same actions exist in the “File” menu.

The actions in the “File” menu that can be used to create new files are highlighted with red brackets.

Each of these actions are only enabled while a project is loaded.

Edit Macros (G) #

This action can be used to open the Macros Editor, where project text shortcuts are defined.

The same action exists in the “Edit” menu.

The action in the Edit menu that is used to open the Macros Editor is highlighted with red brackets.

These are only enabled when there is a loaded project.

Actions for Saving (H, I): #

From Figure 0, the following actions can be used for different save behaviors:

H. Save Current File

  • This will save the file that is open in the Central Editor.
  • This will only be enabled when there is a file open in the Central Editor.

I. Save All

  • This will save the project and all of its files.

The same actions appear in the “File” menu.

The actions in the File menu that are used to save files are highlighted with red brackets.
  • “Save Current As”
    • This action will create a copy of the file that is open in the Central Editor.
    • This new file must replace the file that it is copied from, otherwise it will not be usable within the same project.

These actions are only enabled when there is a loaded project.

Print (J) #

This action can be used to Print image sheets. It will open a Print dialog for the selected Data Source or Set.

The same action exists in the “File” menu.

These actions are only enabled when:

  • There is a loaded project.
  • You have a Data Source or Set open in the Central Panel.
Refresh Data Source (K) #

This action can be used to refresh the contents of a selected Data Source. There will be a slight delay after executing.

The same action exists in the “Edit” menu.

The action in the Edit menu that is used to refresh the contents of a selected Data Source is highlighted with red brackets.

This action is only enabled when:

  • There is a loaded project.
  • You have a Data Source open in the Central Panel.
Export (L) #

This action can be used to open a dialog for starting an Export operation on a selected Data Source or Set.

The same action exists in the “File” menu.

The action in the File menu that is used to start an Export operation is highlighted with red brackets.

These actions are only enabled when:

  • There is a loaded project.
  • You have a Data Source or Set open in the Central Panel.
Undo / Redo Actions (M, N): #

From Figure 0, the following actions can be used for undoing or redoing changes to the project:

M. Undo

  • Revert the last change made to the project.

N. Redo

  • Reapply the last undone change.

The same actions appear in the “Edit” menu.

The actions in the Edit menu that are used to revert and reapply an changes to the project are highlighted with red brackets.

These actions are enabled / disabled when:

  • Can be enabled when there is a loaded project.
  • Undo:
    • Will be enabled when there are changes that can be reverted (undone).
    • Will be disabled there are no actions left in the current undo history.
  • Redo:
    • Will be enabled when an Undo action has been performed, and that change can be reapplied (redone).
    • Will be disabled when the project is up-to-date with the latest action in the current undo history, or no actions have been undone.
Project Settings (O) #

This action can be used to open the settings page for the project in the Central Panel.

The same action exists in the “Edit” menu.

The action in the Edit menu that is used to open the settings of the current project is highlighted with red brackets.

This action is only enabled when there is a loaded project.

Join Our Discord (P) #

This action can be used to join the community Discord for Cocktail Card Designer. Pressing it will open a link in your web browser with an invite to join the server.

Visibility Handle (Q) #

This handle can be clicked and dragged to adjust the visibility of the actions in the project toolbar. It has no effects on the behavior of the rest of the actions.

The appearance of the project toolbar after the “visibility handle” has been dragged over a section of the toolbar.

This handle is always enabled.

Menu Actions #

This section will cover each of the actions in the toolbar that are contained within the menus only, such as the “File”, “Edit”, “Windows”, and “Help” menus.

File Menu #

Add Existing #

This menu contains actions for adding files from your file system to the loaded project.

The actions in the File menu for adding existing files are highlighted with red brackets.

Duplicate files can not be added to the same project, including duplicates created from the “Save Current As” action.

This menu is only enabled while there is a loaded project.

Archive Project #

The following toolbar action is used to generate a template from the current state of an open project.

The action in the File menu that is used to generate a template from the current state of an open project is highlighted with red brackets.

Selecting this action will prompt you to create a file with the type “Project Archive”. This can later be used to create a new project with the same files.

Close Project #

This action can be used to stop editing the currently loaded project.

The action in the File menu that is used to stop editing the currently loaded project is highlighted with red brackets.

If there are unsaved changes to your project, you will be prompted to save your project before closing.

This is only enabled while there is a loaded project.

Exit #

This action can be used to close the Cocktail Card Designer application.

The action in the File menu that is used to close the Cocktail Card Designer application is highlighted with red brackets.

If there are unsaved changes to a loaded project, you will be prompted to save your project before closing.

This action is always enabled.

Edit Menu #

Copy #

This action is used to store the state of whatever you have selected in either the Project Tree or the Central Panel. It can later be “Pasted” to create a duplicate.

The action used to store the state of a selected item is highlighted with red brackets.

This action is enabled when:

  • There is a loaded project.
  • The item you have selected can be copied.
Paste #

This action is used to create a duplicate of the item that was last “copied” at a target location.

The action used to create a duplicate of the last copied item is highlighted with red brackets.

Paste can only create create duplicates in the same “UI Section” that the last copied item existed. Items copied from the Project Tree can only be pasted into the Project Tree, just as items copied from the Central Panel can only be pasted into the Central Panel.

  • NOTE: This does not include generics such as copied text.

This action is enabled when:

  • There is a loaded project.
  • You have previously copied a selectable item in the loaded project.
  • The currently selected target is a valid target for the item you have copied.

Help Menu #

The Help Menu contains various actions for locating user support and for learning more about Cocktail Card Designer.

Check for Updates #

This action can be used to ensure that your version of Cocktail Card Designer is up-to-date with the latest release.

Cocktail Forums #

This action will open the webpage where the discussion boards for Cocktail Card Designer exist.

About #

This action will open a dialog detailing information about Cocktail Card Designer copyright and licensing.
