Undo and Redo in Cocktail Card Designer let you safely explore changes, fix mistakes, and roll back to earlier states without losing progress. The system is designed to be reliable, file-aware, and always ready to restore your work exactly as it was.
How Undo / Redo Works #
Undo and Redo track nearly every change you make across your project.
From adjusting a Layer’s position, to editing text, to changing project settings every edit is recorded in the undo history.
Whenever you press Undo (Ctrl + Z) or Redo (Ctrl + Y):
- The system checks what’s currently open in the Central Panel.
- Undo or Redo is then applied to that specific file’s history.
Each file maintains its own undo/redo list, so you’re never accidentally undoing something in another part of your project.
Per-File Undo History #
Every file type, Layouts, Sets, Data Sources, and Export Profiles has its own dedicated undo tracker.
- Undo and Redo work independently per file.
- Closing a file from the Central Panel does not erase its history.
- You can reopen the file later and still undo or redo past actions.
This allows you to safely switch between editing different files without losing any change history.
Project-Level Undo History #
When no file is open in the Central Panel (for example, if all tabs are closed), Undo and Redo switch to project-level tracking.
At this level:
- Undo/Redo applies to changes made to the Project Tree itself such as adding, renaming, or deleting files.
- It won’t affect the contents of any individual file.
So whether you’re inside a Layout or organizing your project structure, Undo and Redo always operate in the correct context.
Undo / Redo Indicators #
You can always tell when Undo or Redo is available:
- The Undo and Redo icons in the project toolbar will light up when an action is available to reverse or reapply.
- If nothing can be undone or redone, the icons appear dimmed (inactive).
When the History Resets #
Undo and Redo history is preserved for the entire session. It is only cleared when:
- You close the project.
- You exit Cocktail Card Designer.
This means you can freely open and close files during your work without losing the ability to go back.
